An elongated relative of Argireline — an acetylated octapeptide topical cosmetic marketed to reduce expression wrinkles by attenuating neurotransmitter release. Even thinner evidence than Argireline, with claims resting mainly on manufacturer data.
01 Overview
SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) extends the SNAP-25-derived sequence used in Argireline by two residues, and is promoted as a more potent 'topical anti-wrinkle' peptide acting on the SNARE complex to reduce facial muscle contraction. It appears in serums aimed at forehead and eye-area lines.
Independent peer-reviewed evidence is very limited, and, as with other topical anti-wrinkle peptides, meaningful transdermal delivery of an intact octapeptide is questionable. Effects, if any, are subtle, gradual and reversible; systemic exposure is negligible.
