N-PVP (alpha-Pyrrolidinohexiophenone congener)

Also known as N-PVP · naphthyl-PVP variant

N-PVP is a pyrrolidinophenone-class designer cathinone closely related to alpha-PVP, appearing on grey-market listings as a stimulant reuptake inhibitor. Human data is effectively nonexistent; risk is inferred from the well-documented toxicity of its parent alpha-PVP.

01 Overview

N-PVP belongs to the same pyrrolidinophenone lineage that produced alpha-PVP ('flakka'), a cathinone notorious for excited-delirium presentations. It is sold as powder or crystal for insufflation or vaporisation.

There are no clinical pharmacokinetic or safety studies. Assessment relies on forensic identification and read-across from alpha-PVP, which strongly predicts potent stimulant effects, compulsive use and dangerous sympathomimetic and psychiatric toxicity.

02 Mechanism

Presumed potent norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor, consistent with the pyrrolidinophenone pharmacophore.

03 Dosing

TierDoseRouteNotes
Common (approximate, anecdotal)5–15 mgInsufflatedNo validated dosing; extreme caution given alpha-PVP-like potency.

04 Effects

EffectMagnitudeEvidence
Intense stimulationExpected marked energy and euphoria by analogy to alpha-PVP; not verified in humans.Presumed strongUnconfirmed
Craving and compulsionPyrrolidinophenones characteristically drive binge redosing.Presumed strongUnconfirmed

05 Side effects

Cardiovascular strainTachycardia, hypertension and arrhythmia expected by class analogy.SevereUnknownUnconfirmed
Excited delirium / severe agitationalpha-PVP is associated with agitated delirium, hyperthermia and death; N-PVP risk is presumed similar.Life-threateningUnknown; documented for parent alpha-PVPUnconfirmed
