Trenbolone Acetate (Veterinary Implant)
The veterinary trenbolone acetate implant (Finaplix, Component TE) is the cattle growth-promotant form of trenbolone acetate, marketed as compressed subcutaneous ear pellets. Diversion of these pellets to make injectable trenbolone for human use is the classic route by which a cattle drug entered bodybuilding.
01 Overview
As a veterinary product, trenbolone acetate is pressed into small pellet implants deposited under the skin of the ear, releasing drug slowly to boost weight gain and feed efficiency in feedlot cattle. The implants (e.g. Finaplix-H, Component TE-H) are legal cattle products in the US.
Home 'conversion' of these pellets into injectable oil solutions was widely documented in bodybuilding, exposing users to non-sterile preparation, dosing errors and the full trenbolone side-effect profile. This entry focuses on the veterinary implant itself as distinct from pharmaceutical injectable trenbolone acetate; the underlying molecule is the same potent, non-aromatising, strongly progestogenic 19-nor androgen.
02 Mechanism
Trenbolone is a very high-affinity androgen-receptor agonist that also binds the progesterone receptor; the implant matrix gives sustained subcutaneous release. It does not aromatise and resists 5-alpha reduction.
03 Dosing
| Tier | Dose | Route | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cattle implant (veterinary) | 140–200 mg | SubQ | Per-animal ear implant; not a human dosing recommendation |

04 Effects
| Effect | Magnitude | Evidence | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Increased weight gain (cattle)Markedly raises average daily gain and feed efficiency in implanted cattle. | +10-20% ADG | Clinical | |
| Strong anabolic effect (if diverted)The trenbolone molecule produces potent lean-mass and strength gains, which drove illicit human diversion. | Observational |
05 Side effects
| Effect | Severity | Frequency | Evidence | Countermeasures |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Non-sterile conversion contaminationConverting cattle pellets to injectable oil at home risks bacterial contamination, abscesses and injection-site infection. | Severe | Common with home conversion | Observational | |
| Progestogenic and androgenic side effectsSevere HPTA suppression, night sweats, aggression, and progestin-driven effects follow human use of the trenbolone molecule. | Severe | Universal at PED doses | Observational |
