TMA-6

Also known as 2,4,6-trimethoxyamphetamine

TMA-6 (2,4,6-trimethoxyamphetamine) is a psychedelic amphetamine of the trimethoxyamphetamine (TMA) series described by Alexander Shulgin in PiHKAL. It is active in the low tens of milligrams, moderately long-acting, and reported to have a strong psychedelic and sometimes stimulating character. Human data is limited to self-experiments and anecdotal reports; there are no controlled studies.

01 Overview

TMA-6 is one of the six positional isomers of trimethoxyamphetamine, distinguished by 2,4,6-methoxy substitution. It is a 5-HT2A agonist and, among the TMA isomers, is reported to be one of the more potent and reliably psychedelic. Shulgin described full psychedelic effects with a substantial duration.

As with the wider TMA family, human knowledge derives almost entirely from PiHKAL and scattered user reports rather than formal pharmacology or toxicology. Some methoxylated amphetamines carry a theoretical MAO-related interaction risk, and overdose can produce an extended and anxious experience; specific toxicology for TMA-6 is essentially uncharacterised.
