Sunifiram
An experimental piperazine compound structurally related to the racetams, reported in animal studies to enhance memory at very low doses. There is essentially no human clinical data; its use is entirely anecdotal and its safety profile uncharacterised.
01 Overview
Sunifiram is a synthetic ampakine-like molecule investigated preclinically as a potent cognitive enhancer, active in rodents at very low doses. It has never undergone formal human clinical trials and is not an approved drug anywhere.
All human use is off-label and experimental, based on animal findings and self-reports. Because there is no clinical characterisation of its dosing, long-term effects or toxicity in people, any claims about benefit or safety in humans should be treated as unverified.
02 Mechanism
Reported to act as an AMPA-receptor positive modulator and to potentiate NMDA-receptor signalling and cholinergic release in preclinical models.
