Pyrazolam

Also known as SH-I-048A related analogue

Pyrazolam is a designer triazolobenzodiazepine structurally related to alprazolam and bromazepam. It is primarily anxiolytic with comparatively little sedation or euphoria, and is notable for not being metabolised into other active benzodiazepines. Sold as a research chemical, it still carries benzodiazepine dependence risk and dangerous additive respiratory depression with opioids or alcohol.

01 Overview

Pyrazolam appeared on the research-chemical market around 2012. It has no clinical development history; available information comes from analytical chemistry and a limited number of self-experiment and forensic reports. It is reported to be excreted largely unchanged, which distinguishes it from many other benzodiazepines that produce active metabolites.

Users describe it as a relatively 'clean' anxiolytic with weaker sedative and recreational effects than alprazolam. That profile can encourage frequent daytime dosing, which still produces tolerance and dependence over time. As with all designer benzodiazepines, milligram potency and unregulated purity make accurate dosing and combination safety the central concerns.

Positive allosteric modulation of the GABA-A receptor at the benzodiazepine site; the triazole ring confers high potency and relative selectivity for anxiolysis.
