Olodaterol is a once-daily ultra-long-acting beta-2 agonist for the maintenance treatment of COPD, delivered by soft-mist inhaler and frequently combined with the long-acting muscarinic antagonist tiotropium. Its 24-hour duration supports once-daily dosing. It has no established physique or fat-loss role.

01 Overview

Olodaterol is a selective beta-2 agonist with a 24-hour duration of action, indicated for the long-term maintenance bronchodilator treatment of airflow obstruction in COPD. It is delivered through a Respimat soft-mist inhaler and is widely used in a fixed combination with tiotropium (a LAMA), pairing two complementary bronchodilator mechanisms.

As an ultra-LABA it carries the class caution against asthma monotherapy and shares the beta-2 agonist systemic side-effect profile. Its clinical value is convenience and durable bronchodilation in COPD. It is not used as a thermogenic or cutting agent; inhaled systemic exposure is minimal.

02 Mechanism

Ultra-long-acting near-full agonist at the beta-2 adrenergic receptor. High affinity and slow dissociation give 24-hour airway smooth-muscle relaxation via sustained cyclic AMP elevation.
