Nebracetam
An obscure racetam with cholinergic and reported muscarinic-agonist activity, studied preclinically for ischaemia and cognitive deficits. Essentially uncharacterised in humans and rarely available.
01 Overview
Nebracetam (WEB-1881-FU) is a pyrrolidinone that stands out among racetams for reported direct M1 muscarinic agonist activity in addition to enhancing cholinergic function. It was investigated in animal models of cerebral ischaemia and cognitive impairment.
There is almost no published human efficacy or safety data. It appears only sporadically on research-chemical markets, and any use is exploratory.
02 Mechanism
Reported to act as an M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor agonist and to enhance central cholinergic transmission; also affects protein kinase C signalling in preclinical work.
