Nandrolone Laurate
A very long-acting (12-carbon laurate) ester of nandrolone, marketed for veterinary use as Laurabolin. Effects mirror nandrolone (deca) but the long ester gives an extended, flat release requiring infrequent injection. Human data are limited; most evidence is veterinary and anecdotal.
01 Overview
Nandrolone laurate is 19-nortestosterone esterified with lauric acid, producing one of the longest-acting nandrolone esters. It was developed primarily for veterinary medicine under the name Laurabolin, used to promote weight gain, recovery and coat condition in animals. In humans its use is off-label and unstudied in formal trials.
Once hydrolysed, the active hormone is nandrolone, so effects and side effects match deca-durabolin: strong anabolism with relatively low androgenicity, progestogenic activity, and notable HPTA suppression. The laurate ester merely extends the release window well beyond decanoate. Because rigorous human data on this specific ester are scarce, ratings lean observational/anecdotal.
02 Mechanism
Serum esterases slowly hydrolyse the laurate ester to release nandrolone, which binds the androgen receptor with high anabolic-to-androgenic ratio. Nandrolone is 5-alpha reduced to the weaker DHN, contributing to its lower androgenicity, and has progestogenic activity.
03 Dosing
| Tier | Dose | Route | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common (nandrolone-equivalent) | 200–400 mg/wk | IM | Long ester; often dosed every 1-2 weeks. Inferred from nandrolone use. |

04 Effects
| Effect | Magnitude | Evidence | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Increased lean massHigh anabolic activity of nandrolone; slow, sustained release from the laurate ester. | steady | Observational | |
| Joint comfortUsers report improved joint comfort, commonly attributed to nandrolone; mechanism not well established. | Anecdotal | ||
| Increased red blood cell productionNandrolone raises erythropoiesis; historically used for anaemia. | Observational |
05 Side effects
| Effect | Severity | Frequency | Evidence | Countermeasures |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HPTA suppressionStrong, prolonged suppression of natural testosterone and spermatogenesis; slow recovery due to long ester. | Severe | Universal | Clinical | |
| Sexual dysfunction (deca dick)Erectile dysfunction and low libido linked to progestogenic activity and suppressed testosterone. | Moderate | Common | Observational | |
| Elevated prolactin effectsProgestogenic activity can raise prolactin, contributing to gynecomastia and libido issues. | Moderate | Less common | Observational |
