Methylnortestosterone
Methylnortestosterone (17alpha-methyl-19-nortestosterone, MENT's oral relative) is an orally active 19-nor androgen investigated in the context of male hormonal contraception via its acetate/enanthate injectable cousins. The 17-alpha-methylated oral form is a potent, non-aromatising (weakly aromatising) androgen with progestogenic activity, oral hepatotoxicity, and strong gonadotropin suppression.

Methylnortestosterone relates to the trestolone (MENT, 7-alpha-methyl-19-nortestosterone) research program aimed at hormonal male contraception, where its potent suppression of spermatogenesis is a desired effect. The 17-alpha-methylated oral analogue trades injectable delivery for oral activity at the cost of hepatic strain.
As a 19-nor compound it is progestogenic and only weakly aromatising; suppression is strong, which is precisely why the parent class was studied as a contraceptive. Human data on the specific oral methylated form are limited.
