5-iodo-MDAI is an iodinated analog of the serotonin-selective aminoindane entactogen MDAI. It is essentially uncharacterised in humans and expected to produce gentle MDMA-like emotional effects with minimal stimulation, while retaining serotonin-syndrome risk shared by the aminoindane class.

01 Overview

5-iodo-MDAI extends the aminoindane entactogen family (MDAI, MMAI) with a ring iodine substituent, a modification used in research to probe serotonin-transporter interactions. By analogy it should behave as a serotonin-selective releaser giving soft empathogenic effects with little stimulation.

There is virtually no human pharmacology or safety data. Even serotonin-selective aminoindanes carry serotonin-syndrome risk and unknown long-term effects. Likely covered by analog or psychoactive-substances legislation.
