Methandriol
17-alpha-methylandrostenediol, a mild anabolic that is a methylated derivative of the testosterone precursor androstenediol. Methandriol is 17-alpha-methyl-androst-5-ene-3-beta,17-beta-diol, essentially a 17-alpha-methylated form of androstenediol (a testosterone precursor). It was marketed for human anabolic therapy and persists in veterinary formulations, frequently as methandriol dipropionate for a depot effect.
It is a mild compound with modest androgenic and anabolic activity. Bodybuilding lore attributes to it a synergistic or potentiating effect when stacked with other androgens, though this is anecdotal. As a 17-alpha-alkylated steroid it carries hepatotoxic potential despite its weakness. Controlled human data are minimal; the profile rests on older sources, veterinary use and anecdote.
