Methamnetamine (MNA)

Methamnetamine (MNA, methylnaphetamine) is the N-methylated analogue of naphthylaminopropane, a stimulant-entactogen with a large naphthalene ring in place of the amphetamine benzene ring. It is a potent triple monoamine releaser sold as a research chemical, with negligible human data.

01 Overview

Methamnetamine replaces the phenyl ring of methamphetamine with a naphthyl group, a modification that produces a potent releaser of serotonin, noradrenaline and dopamine. In vitro it behaves like a strong, non-selective monoamine releaser, giving a combined stimulant and entactogenic profile.

It appeared as a designer stimulant with no clinical study behind it. The strong serotonergic releasing activity raises particular concern about serotonin toxicity and neurotoxicity by analogy to related releasers, but direct human evidence is absent and the entries below rest on in vitro data and anecdote.
