A very obscure injectable anabolic steroid, an enol-ether derivative in the dihydrotestosterone/1-testosterone family that acts as a prodrug releasing an active DHT-type androgen. Studied only briefly in the mid-20th century, it never reached meaningful clinical use and has essentially no modern human data, appearing mainly in old steroid literature and anti-doping references.

01 Overview

Mesabolone is a 1-en-DHT enol-ether steroid designed as a slow-release depot androgen; the cyclohexyl enol-ether moiety functions as a built-in ester-like group that is cleaved to yield an active 1-testosterone-type steroid. It was among numerous experimental anabolic agents explored in the mid-1900s and did not achieve lasting therapeutic status.

As a DHT-family androgen it does not aromatise and is expected to give dry, lean effects with moderate androgenicity and HPG suppression. Its evidence base is extremely thin — old pharmacology notes and doping-control listings — so almost everything about human effects is inferred rather than demonstrated.
