MDPHP is a pyrrolidine cathinone and potent dopamine-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor - functionally a stimulant, not an empathogen, despite the methylenedioxy ring. It is closely related to MDPV and pyrovalerone. Human data is limited to case reports and forensic toxicology, and its stimulant/compulsive-use profile is the dominant hazard.

01 Overview

MDPHP (3',4'-methylenedioxy-alpha-pyrrolidinohexiophenone) is a synthetic cathinone in the pyrrolidinophenone family alongside MDPV and alpha-PHP. Although it shares the methylenedioxy group with MDMA, its pharmacology is that of a powerful monoamine reuptake inhibitor with strong dopaminergic action - a stimulant, included here for contrast rather than as an entactogen.

There are no controlled human studies. It has appeared in the NPS market and in forensic casework, including intoxications and deaths. Like related cathinones it carries pronounced compulsive-use potential, cardiovascular strain and psychiatric toxicity.
