alpha-PHP
alpha-PHP (alpha-pyrrolidinohexiophenone) is a pyrrolidine cathinone and dopamine/noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor, the hexyl homologue of alpha-PVP. It spread as an alpha-PVP replacement after that compound was scheduled. Human pharmacology is essentially uncharacterised; it shares the potent, highly compulsive profile of the pyrrolidine cathinone class.
01 Overview
alpha-PHP is one chain-length longer than alpha-PVP and produces broadly similar potent stimulant effects with strong abuse liability. It is reported as intensely stimulating with minimal warmth and a short duration that drives compulsive redosing. It is used orally, insufflated, and (outside this profile's scope) smoked.
Data are limited to early-warning-system identification, seizures and scattered intoxication reports. Class hazards apply strongly: severe cardiovascular strain, agitation and psychosis on bingeing, severe comedown and dependence, and unconfirmed long-term neurotoxicity. As a pyrrolidine cathinone it is flagged as especially compulsive.
02 Mechanism
Potent dopamine and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor (DAT/NET) analogous to alpha-PVP, producing strong stimulation with high abuse potential.
03 Dosing
| Tier | Dose | Route | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light | 3–10 mg | Insufflated | Rapid, intense onset; strong compulsion to redose. |
| Light | 5–15 mg | Oral | Very potent; active in single-milligram amounts. High overdose risk. |
| Common | 15–30 mg | Oral | Narrow margin; compulsive redosing common. |

05 Side effects
| Effect | Severity | Frequency | Evidence | Countermeasures |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Long-term neurotoxicity (unknown)Long-term neurological effects are unestablished in humans. | Moderate | Unknown | Unconfirmed | |
