AC-186

Also known as AC-186 · AC186

AC-186 is a non-steroidal selective androgen receptor modulator studied preclinically for neuroprotective and anabolic effects, including in models of spinal cord injury and neuromuscular function. It has been characterised as tissue-selective in animals but has no published human trials.

01 Overview

AC-186 is a SARM investigated largely outside the mainstream muscle-wasting programmes, with preclinical interest in the nervous system as well as muscle. Studies in animal models examined its effects on motor neurons and muscle in the context of injury and neurodegeneration, exploiting the androgen receptor's presence in neural tissue.

As with most tool-compound SARMs, its profile in humans is unknown. Its selectivity and any anabolic benefit are inferred from rodent work, and it appears in the literature and occasionally on research-chemical listings rather than in any clinical setting.

02 Mechanism

A non-steroidal selective androgen receptor modulator that activates androgen receptors in muscle and neural tissue with relative selectivity, studied for combined anabolic and neuroprotective effects in animals.
