5-APDI (IAP)

Also known as 5-APDI · IAP · 5-(2-Aminopropyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-indene

5-APDI (5-(2-aminopropyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-indene), also called IAP, is an aminoindane-related compound reported to act as a relatively balanced or serotonin-favouring monoamine releaser. It is largely uncharacterised in humans and circulated only briefly as a research chemical.

01 Overview

5-APDI is an indane-containing phenethylamine sometimes grouped with the aminoindanes and sometimes with the entactogens. Preclinical work suggests it releases serotonin, noradrenaline and dopamine, with a comparatively strong serotonergic component that gives it a more entactogenic character than 2-aminoindane.

Human data are effectively absent. It appeared in the research-chemical market as a novel entactogen-stimulant but never gained wide circulation, so almost everything here is inferred from limited in vitro studies and sparse anecdote.

02 Mechanism

Non-selective monoamine releaser at serotonin, noradrenaline and dopamine transporters, with a relatively prominent serotonergic component.
