2C-T-7 (2,5-dimethoxy-4-propylthiophenethylamine) is a sulphur-containing 2C psychedelic that gained notoriety after several deaths in the early 2000s, some involving insufflation or MAOI combination. It produces long-lasting psychedelic effects with a heavy body load and vasoconstriction. Human data come from case reports and anecdote only.

01 Overview

2C-T-7 is the propylthio analogue in the 2C-T sub-series and acts as a 5-HT2A receptor agonist. Effects are described as intense and long-lasting with a pronounced physical load. Its reputation is shaped by a cluster of fatalities around 2000-2001, at least one of which involved insufflation of a large dose and others combination with MAO inhibitors.

The deaths prompted its emergency scheduling in several countries. As with 2C-T-2, MAO metabolism of the thioether group means that combining 2C-T-7 with MAOI drugs is especially dangerous. Insufflation appears to carry higher and less predictable risk than oral use. Human pharmacology remains uncharacterised.

02 Mechanism

Agonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors; the 4-propylthio group is an MAO substrate, so co-use with MAOIs is hazardous.
