2C-T-4 is a 2C-T-series psychedelic phenethylamine with a 4-isopropylthio group. It is potent and long-acting with a strong visual and introspective profile, and — like other 2C-T thioethers — carries a specific risk of dangerous interaction with MAOIs.
01 Overview
2C-T-4 (2,5-dimethoxy-4-isopropylthiophenethylamine) belongs to the sulfur-substituted 2C-T family. It is reported as strongly psychedelic and introspective with a long duration, often 10-15 hours, and a slow, sometimes plateauing onset.
Human evidence is anecdotal. The defining safety concern for the 2C-T thioethers is that they are metabolised by monoamine oxidase; combining them with MAO inhibitors (including some antidepressants and harmala alkaloids) has been linked to serious and potentially fatal reactions. This interaction risk sets the 2C-T series apart from other 2C compounds.

Serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonist; the alkylthio group at the 4 position confers potency, and metabolism by monoamine oxidase underlies the MAOI interaction hazard.
