2C-T

Also known as 2,5-dimethoxy-4-methylthiophenethylamine

2C-T (2,5-dimethoxy-4-methylthiophenethylamine) is a psychedelic phenethylamine of the 2C series first described by Alexander Shulgin in PiHKAL. It is the parent sulfur-substituted 2C compound, related to 2C-T-2 and 2C-T-7. Human data is limited to self-experiments and anecdotal reports; there are no controlled studies.

01 Overview

2C-T is the base 4-methylthio member of the 2C-T subgroup, a family of sulfur-containing phenethylamine psychedelics. It acts as a serotonin 5-HT2A/2C agonist and is taken orally, with effects Shulgin described as moderate in intensity and duration relative to some of its longer-acting relatives.

As with the wider 2C-T subgroup, human knowledge derives almost entirely from PiHKAL and scattered user reports. The sulfur-substituted 2C-T compounds as a group carry additional caution because some members interact dangerously with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and a few (notably 2C-T-7) have been linked to fatalities; specific toxicology for 2C-T itself is essentially uncharacterised.
