2C-G
2C-G (2,5-dimethoxy-3,4-dimethylphenethylamine) is a psychedelic phenethylamine of the 2C series first described by Alexander Shulgin in PiHKAL. It is notable for its long duration and comparatively gentle, cerebral character. Human data is limited to Shulgin's self-experiments and sparse anecdotal reports; there are no controlled studies.
01 Overview
2C-G is the 3,4-dimethyl analogue in the 2C family and one of a small subgroup with alkyl substitution on the ring. Shulgin reported it as long-lasting, with a slow onset and a duration substantially longer than most 2C compounds, and as more intellectual and less overtly visual than relatives such as 2C-B.
As with most 2C research chemicals, knowledge of its effects comes almost entirely from PiHKAL and a handful of later user reports rather than from formal pharmacology or toxicology. Its long duration is a practical hazard, since misjudged dosing can produce an extended and difficult experience.
02 Mechanism
Agonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors (with 5-HT2C activity), the shared mechanism of classical serotonergic psychedelics.
03 Dosing
| Tier | Dose | Route | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Threshold | 10–15 mg | Oral | Onset of noticeable effects; sensitivity varies. |
| Common | 20–35 mg | Oral | Range reported in PiHKAL; not clinically validated. |
| Strong | 35–45 mg | Oral | Higher doses extend an already long duration; risk poorly characterised. |
